The Access to Financing Capacity Building Programme (AFCB) is an initiative to support early stage businesses in enhancing the company’s access to finance through development of specific knowledge, skills and competitiveness. Currently, SMEs are continuously facing challenges in obtaining financing to grow or expand their business due to common issues, such as poor credit worthiness, and lack of information and resources on financing requirements.Through this programme, participants are provided with training and guidance by Delivery Partners appointed by SME Corp. Malaysia, to help their companies reduce the eligibility gap for them to enhance their access to wider sources of financing.
Objectives
The objectives of this programme are:
- Equip SMEs with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve their financial and business management
- Improve the financing readiness of SMEs that would enable them to enhance their prospects in obtaining conventional and alternative financing / investments / LEAP Market fund raising upon completion of the programme
Programme Scope
Phase 1
- 40 hours of training sessions
Phase 2
- 12 hours of coaching and mentoring sessions
Selected SMEs MUST complete Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the programme with full attendance. Upon completion of the 2 phases, SME Corp. Malaysia will undertake an outcome-based monitoring for a period of six (6) to twelve (12) months to evaluate the SMEs’ financing readiness.
Eligibility Criteria for SMEs
- Fulfil the SME definition and with SME Status registration
- Registered with Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM)
- Has at least 60% Malaysian equity
- In operations for at least six (6) months until maximum of three (3) years from the date of incorporation
Modules
There are six (6) compulsory modules to be completed by SMEs as follows:
- Financial Management Strategy
- Corporate Governance and SOPs
- Business Tools and Talent Development
- Sales and Marketing in Digital Economy
- Technology and Innovation Adoption
- Secretarial, Administration, Company Laws and Statutory Obligations
