SME Innovation Award

The SME Innovation Award 2010 is the premier Award to acknowledge and recognise the most innovative SME for 2010. The Top Most Innovative SME from five (5) categories are entitled to a RM1 million cash prize. The Awards will be presented by YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia during the SME Innovation Showcase (SMIDEX 2010), which will be held on 1 June 2010 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

Award Category

The Categories of the Awards are:

  • Best Innovation Award in Technology (Manufacturing Sector)

  • Best Innovation Award in Technology (Services Sector)

  • Best Innovation Award in Technology (Agriculture Sector)

  • Best Innovation Award in Packaging and Design

  • Best Innovation Award in Green Technology & Energy Efficiency

Application

  • Interested innovative SMEs are encouraged to apply

  • Applicants are required to access to http://1-innocert.innoxchange.my for the on-line self-assessment from 1 – 31 March 2010. The assessment is FREE OF CHARGE
    SMEs which score >700 points in the On-line assessment are qualified for the On-site Audit

  • An audit fee of RM3,000 will be imposed for the On-site Audit

  • Marks will be deducted for any ‘invalidated claims’/`inaccurate declaration’/‘overrated self-assessment’ if the On-line Data do not match the On-site Audit

Assesment Criteria

1. Evaluation is based upon 1-InnoCERT Assessment Criteria:
i) Technology Innovation Ability
ii) Technology Commercialization Ability
iii) Technology Innovation Management Ability
iv) Technology Innovation Result

2. Final Evaluation will be deliberated through a Panel of Independent Judges.

3. The 100 most innovative companies shortlisted will be invited to participate in SMIDEX 2010. Participation to the SMIDEX 2010 is by INVITATION ONLY

Criteria

  • Must be a Malaysian registered SME and fulfill the definition of SME

  • At least 51% of the equity held by Malaysians

  • At least 2 years in business (able to provide 1 year Audited Financial (Statement)

Workshops

  • Workshops will be conducted to explain the process and procedure of the Award. Please register via e-mail to innocert@smecorp.gov.my

  • Limited to the first 150 participants on a first come-first serve basis

  • The Workshops will be carried out on: 25 February and 15 March 2010
