MULTIMEDIA Development Corp (MDeC) is planning to establish an e-commerce platform for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with the view of helping them develop into global vendors.

Industry development division vice president Saifol Shamlan says SMEs can use the e-commerce platform, which will be based on a business-to-business (B2B) concept, to trade with improved efficiency and at a reduced cost.

He says the agency expects to conduct a pilot test in July and introduce the e-commerce platform to the market after that.

“We plan to make this available in Malaysia in the first stage and to global buyers in the second stage. The aim is to help our SMEs become global vendors,” he tells StarBizWeek in an interview recently.

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 April 2010 – The Small and Medium Enterprise Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp. Malaysia) has officially launched its prestigious annual award programme, Enterprise 50 (E50), that recognises the achievements of Malaysia’s enterprising home-grown SME companies.

Now in its 14th year, Enterprise 50 is supported by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry and is jointly organised by SME Corp. Malaysia and Deloitte Malaysia, with the support and sponsorship from Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), RHB Bank Berhad, Business Times, Media Prima Berhad, Malaysia SME and Celcom Axiata Berhad as new partner for this year.

Mukhriz Tun Mahathir menyampaikan sumbangan kepada kanak-kanak dari Rumah Kanak-kanak Taman Bakti Kepala Batas selepas merasmikan penutupan Ekspo Pemuda dan Usahawan 2010 di Padang Awam Pokok Sena, Tasek Gelugor, semalam.
